Wrabel – surrender

Wrabel drops “surrender”, a kinetic new single from his upcoming album “up above”, out February 13, 2026 on Nettwerk. The track builds steadily, creating an atmosphere of motion and intensity that widens and becomes more consuming as it unfolds.

Lyrically, “surrender” explores love as an act of giving yourself over to another person—emotionally, spiritually, physically. Wrabel describes it as putting aside ego to genuinely care for someone else as much as yourself, finding “that sweet spot in the middle of the venn diagram of love.” He calls it “definitely the sweatiest song on the record,” and you can hear that energy in how the production expands and intensifies.

“up above” marks a creative shift for Wrabel. He co-produced the album for the first time, working with longtime collaborator Austin Ward, with additional production and mixing by Damian Taylor (Björk, Arcade Fire, The Prodigy). Much of the writing happened at his coffee table, and the album moves away from the deeply autobiographical approach of his 2023 LP “based on a true story”. Instead, he reaches toward wider existential reflections, surreal atmospheres, and blurred edges of reality, partly inspired by Annie Jacobsen’s book “Nuclear War: A Scenario”.

Beyond his solo work, Wrabel has collaborated with Teddy Swims, Celeste, Ellie Goulding, and Madi Diaz.
